Seriously?

Ok- I should really retitle my blog "Melissa Hogle's daily plea for help and advice." But seriously, I needs me some good advice from you mommies out there.
WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH TEETHING?????????
I cannot figure it out. My little sassers has been a bit of a cranky pants lately. I dont know if she is sick of just teething. She is running random fevers, but not very high ones and alsos she has had some serious spit up lately. I thought she was sick at first but then it went away, and then came back, then went away, then came back, you get the point. And it has been like this for about 2 weeks. Then she will seem fine and act like a happy girl, and then an hour later - WHOA, watch out. And quite frankly she has adopted the temperment of acting like a crotchety old man. I keep looking for teeth but nothing???? So what do you say? Sick and she needs to go to the doc? Or teething and it is going to just be a fun ride around here for the next little while? Hizzity Help us please!

ha ha, I'm sorry. It took Kael months before an actual tooth popped out. And he kind of did the same thing. My doc said if the fever isn't high then not to worry. So I would just do what your gut tells you. But babies are cranky cranky cranky when they start to get teeth. So watch out, it's almost like they turn bipolar. ha ha.

Oh my. Seriously we are living a double life because you just described my last week to a T. Yesterday I was ready to sell my baby to any traveling gypsy that wanted him because he would NOT STOP CRYING! So so fussy. Nothing worked, even Tylenol. And then today, poof, he is a happy baby again. I feel for teeth and I think I feel bumps, but I'm just not sure. Nights have been awful for about two weeks. He's back to waking up at least twice, usually three times and then not going back to sleep after eating!!! I want to pull my hair out. Unfortunately, no good advice here. Just another unhappy camper that can relate :(

hmmm- that is so hard- I'm so sorry!! Many times Lucas (and almost any teething baby I've known of) would get those same symptoms (extra drool, fevers, crankiness) I tried not to use it too much, but THANKFully! Tylenol always helped him to fall asleep and stay asleep. Don't get me wrong, we did have many rough nights. I would just strip him down to a diaper, which always reduced the fevers- maybe find stuff/food that she could chew on to take the edge off. I used orajel (even though it was a fight just to get it on his gums), really cold drinks, teething ring, lots of love and prayers, and Definitely make an appointment just to rule out any actual illness so you can move on to treat it behaviorally!!

SO fun hu!!!!! NOT!!! Yup she is teething and like someone already posted they could be teething weeks before a tooth actually pops up. I use baby motin at night and that seems to help but rather than that it is just no fun. Sorry

Melissa- this is Natalie's sister in law, Heidi... We're going through teething right now too! The only thing that seems to work for my girls are Hyland's teething tablets. You can get them at WalMart and they work great. Sometimes when I'm really desperate I combine them with children's Motrin... Good luck!!!
